Halifax Brief Therapy Centre was founded by Jill Ceccolini and Barry McClatchey in 2003.  We are a consulting service devoted to solution focused practice with individuals, couples, families, organizations, schools and businesses.

Clinical Supervision

The versatility of the solution focused approach allows for a model of supervision that inspires clear and measurable benefits for clinicians, regardless of their therapeutic approach.

Solution focused clinical supervision has a positive and encouraging flavour with a strong emphasis on the process of clinical work, rather than looking at the content of counselling sessions.  As a result, HBTC looks at what's working, rather than lengthy examinations of what isn't effective in specific clinical cases.  This builds confidence in one's work and inspires individual clinicians to be the best expert on what they might need to do differently, in order to be more helpful to their clients.

For the purposes of clinical supervision, it is preferred that counsellors and therapists have the capability to provide video or audio tapes of their work.  Although it's not essential, it's also preferred that supervisees are already utilizing a solution focused approach in their work.

While HBTC offers individual clinical supervision, a monthly supervision group will be offered in 2008.  For more information on the availability of clinical supervision, please contact HBTC via email.
